You'll do Walk in NYC #16, the quiet Bay Ridge, for its 40 minutes ferry ride, its unique views of the tip of Manhattan and the discovery of a neighborhood with very affordable restaurants. It is a 3 miles unusual self-guided tour in southwest Brooklyn, along the Upper Bay coast. You will take a fast ferry and see the Statue of Liberty from afar before reaching your destination. 🥐There is an excerpt of it below to give you an idea of what it is. 💥Otherwise, it is available in full for a few $ on Payhip/ImagesVoyagesImpressions in a PDF file that you'll be able to download on your phone. 🎈NB:
Your walk begins at ... the Bay Ridge ferry port, and the closest subway is Wall Street, about a 10-minute walk away. The ferry trip does not cost more than a metro ticket, but you will have to buy your ticket at the port because the MetroCard is not accepted there. This will allow you to ask where and when the next boat is leaving and then watch the river traffic on the East River. In any case, your wait should not exceed 30 minutes. Once you leave, you first head towards the Brooklyn Bridge. Then, you go along Brooklyn Bridge Park and Brooklyn Height for a stop a little further east. From there you start to get nice views of lower Manhattan and then, gradually, the New Jersey Shore. Next, the ferry passes between Governor’s Island and Red Hook, its second stop. At this point, you can see the Statue of Liberty standing behind trees and at Red Hook, you’ll have an opportunity to look at some of New York's docks and some of the cargo ships that supply the city. From there, you pick up speed and go towards Brooklyn Army Terminal where there probably isn't much to do if you're not in the army. A: The fourth stop is also the last and it is the beginning of your Bay Ridge Walk. You disembark on a pontoon where locals have set up with their fishing rods and you suddenly feel very far from Manhattan. B: From there, go under the ... bridge and take a left towards one of the green jewels of the Bay Bridge, ... Enter it but stay to the right along .... and then take 68th St. once you exit the park. There are some lovely private streets to the right of this street, ... Court being a good example. This will give you a second idea of the neighborhood, residential and quiet. C: Once you arrive at ... Ave, one of the two shopping streets of Bay Ridge, turn left then take ... St on the right. On each side of the street, superb brownstone in a Renaissance Revival style.
