Walk in NYC # 4, from the High Line to the Hudson River, is a 4 miles unusual self-guided tour. It's unusual because it's on and off the beaten path. It will take you about 2 hours to complete if strolling and taking pictures, much more if you visit the various recommended places on your way. It's also the fourth of my 4 favorites to show the city to newcomers, allowing you to explore one of the new trendy places in Manhattan then to relax along the river. 🥐There is an excerpt of it below to give you an idea of what it is. 💥Otherwise, it is available in full for a few $ on Payhip/ImagesVoyagesImpressions in a PDF file that you'll be able to download on your phone. 🎈NB:
A, Option 1 (the one the map tells you and the longest): Take the subway to ... then once outside, follow 8th Ave for a block to take 33rd St on your right and find the entrance to the ... station hall a little further on your left. Enter it to see what this bright, modernist station looks like after the decades it took to be built in order to expand Penn Station. If you take this option, it will add about 30 minutes to your walk. Exit the station onto ... and take a left to reach Hudson Yards. When you arrive at 10th Ave, look up to the left to see the triangular platform of “The Edge”, an observatory built above the void. Next, the map tells you to turn right to reach 34th St which you will take left to find the entrance to the High Line on your right. If you want to shorten your journey, though, turn left immediately to reach “The Vessel” and see the description below. B, Option 2: Take the subway to ... and follow the signs to "The Vessel" to see and, if possible, visit this amazing structure, the New York's Eiffel Tower and/or the actual creation of an M.C. Esher engraving. Entry regulations have changed regularly since it opened so check beforehand how it is when you come or take your chances once there. Alternatively, and for a longer walk, instead of immediately turning right towards The Vessel, go towards 34th St. to access the start of the High Line on your left, see The Vessel from a distance and then return towards Hudson Yards from the other side. In either case, once at Hudson Yards, take also a look at the Shed with its free art exhibitions and/or the shopping mall and its countless boutiques, often luxury ones. If you're interested (there’s an entry fee), go up to "The Edge" with its glass floor overlooking the streets and its glass walls offering splendid views of the city. (The rest is on the pdf...)
