Walk in NYC # 12, from Central Park to Upper East Side, will allow you to see what can be considered the best part of Central Park, then famous museums, and finally the upscale Upper East Side. It's a 4 miles unusual self-guided tour that will take you about 2.5 hours of strolling and taking photos, much more if you visit the museums along the way. The last leg of it could be done with a bike if you want to reach the end quicker. There, you might take a ferry of a bus to reach other destinations you want to explore. 🍧There is an excerpt of it below to give you an idea of what it is. 💚Otherwise, it is available in full for a few $ on Payhip/ImagesVoyagesImpressions in a PDF file that you'll be able to download on your phone. ✨NB:
A: Your walk begins at the ... subway station exit on the edge of the Upper West Side. In front of you, facing the park and in Gothic style, you will see the ..., a private and elegant residence for the rich and famous although not all are accepted when they apply. However, it is claimed that ghosts freely share rooms with residents. In any case, this was where John Lennon lived, and it was in front of the door that he was murdered. Enter Central Park at this location to find ... on your left, a small space dedicated to his memory. Impossible to miss, many people have their photo taken in front of the “Imagine” mosaic. B: Next, follow the path going down, Terrace Drive, and you will find a kiosk where you can get a map of the park which could help you later. Continue on Terrace Drive to reach ... which will be on your left with, besides the terrace, a magnificent interior passage decorated with mosaics and a fountain. This is the heart of Central Park, a bustling place where you can sit and watch all kinds of people coming and going or boating on the lake. The map tells you to turn left then right after Cherry Hill (where you'll get views from above if you go there) to reach the fountain first but if you continue straight, you'll reach the terrace. C: When you're tired of the spectacle of the crowds, head to the... by taking the path that faced the fountain when you arrived. You can rent a boat there in season or have a drink by the water. NB: If you want to hire a remote-controlled sailing boat, walk a little further to ...; then retrace your steps if you want to do the rest of the walk in the park. D: Then continue towards the Ramble, passing the Loeb Boathouse. You are going to enter an area of the park where you could easily get lost on the many trails there, nestled in a dense forest. This is where Central Park makes you believe you are in the countryside and where a map of it can help. (The rest is on the pdf...) Ready to explore the city on your own?
