Walk in Chicago # 3, the north of the Loop and Navy Pier, is an unusual self-guided tour that will surely please your kids as many attractions are for them on Navy Pier. Even without kids, though, it will surely appeal to the kid in you as you will come and see this huge ferry wheel you surely glanced from afar if you have already followed Walk in Chicago # 1 and/or # 2. Before reaching it, it goes from busy places to residential streets, then and after, to an upscale and very contemporary ensemble of skyscrapers. A: Exit the subway, take ... St north/river and at the bridge walk down to the right to join the boardwalk. B: You have already done this part along the river until the ... Bridge if you have followed the Walk in Chicago # 1 but it is a unique place so why not go back? Otherwise, follow ... to the Du Sable Bridge and your views of the buildings will be different. There, go down to the promenade. C: At ... Bridge, go up to the street, cross the river and then go down to the right to join The ... - the same as the promenade but on the other side with a different name and historically older! Continue to a small park with a fountain and there, take the stairs on the left to reach ... Ct. You will soon pass the ... Slip Canal on your right, an old harbor surrounded by warehouses which has since been renovated. The boats are now the ones taking you on an architectural tour and in the distance, you see the Centennial Wheel at Navy Pier, your destination. D: To reach it, you will have to take ... St on your right and walk for a while in a residential area then go under US Highway 41. This is not the most interesting part of the walk, but once you have passed under the bridge, you will find colorful and/or original sculptures on the right to distract you and you will soon come to the entrance of Navy Pier, a former Navy training center transformed into a tourist attraction and exhibition center. You will also see contemporary art installations, some temporary, some permanent. On your right, a place to sit, to find water and restrooms and opposite, monumental sculptures.
