Walk in Chicago # 6, Lincoln Park and the lakeside, is a must-do if you have children but start early to escape the crowd and if the weather is nice, plan a stop along the lake. You could easily spend half a day on this self-guided walk that will also appeal to the kid in you. It goes beyond the zoo itself to give you a broader perspective on the city and that's what makes it unusual compared to what you can find elsewhere. 🍧There is an excerpt of it below to give you an idea of what it is. 💚Otherwise, it is available in full for a few $ on Payhip/ImagesVoyagesImpressions in a PDF file that you'll be able to download on your phone. ✨NB:
A: Once you get off the bus, walk a little to the north to find the zoo entrance on your right. B: It is very large, very well laid out and free. It is also very busy so the sooner you get there, the better it will be if you want to avoid the crowds. On the left of the entrance, you will find macaques, rhinos, giraffes, polar bears and penguins. In front of you, the lions. On the right, the seals and an hourly show starring them. Further on the right, large and small monkeys, flamingos then zebras, ostriches and camels. These are only the most spectacular attractions but there are lot of other animals, and you can easily stay there for two hours if you want to see them all. C: Once you are done, exit through where you entered and turn right into the park to head towards the arboretum. Its entrance is also free, but you’d better book a slot in advance if you want to be sure to be allowed inside as the paths are narrow and the number of people limited. In any case, it is teeming with thousands of different plants, most of them lush, so the experience is extraordinary. You may spend an hour there if you want to look at everything in detail. D: Then, turn right out of the arboretum to join ... Dr which you will take to the right until a path on your right which will take you to ... Pkwy. To reach ... Pond secret and hidden garden - or so it seems when you enter it, you'll need to find an opening along a Prairie-style wall, and it'll be on the right again. The place is quiet, tall trees surround the water lily pool, you hear the sound of a waterfall and the sound of birds. (The rest is on the pdf...) Ready to explore the city on your own?
