Walk in Chicago # 8, Ravenswood, Graceland and Buena Park, brings you far from Downtown to experiment a part of the city that isn't often visited even though it offers unique and unusual discoveries. It explores 3 historic neighborhoods with the main focus being a large, famous and landscaped cemetery. It's one of these walks where a bike could be handy especially if you want to wander a lot in the cemetery. 🍰There is an excerpt of it below to give you an idea of what it is. ❤️ Otherwise, it is available in full for a few $ on Payhip/ImagesVoyagesImpressions in a PDF file that you'll be able to download on your phone. 😁NB:
A: When you step on the street from the metro, you know right away that you are in another Chicago because there is a village feel to this place with restaurants and cafes ready to welcome you if you want to start there. If you want to rent a bike, it’s also here that you can do it. Otherwise, take ... Ave toward the east/the lake and just before the Metra train line bridge, there will be a large communal garden on the right which is sometimes open to visitors. Just after it, you will see "the International Architect", a contemporary sculpture like there is many in Ravenswood, and practically opposite it, the large center of the arts called ... In fact, it kept its original name but is now in an old factory on ... Ave and has a gallery open to the public. If there are many ceramics on display, it is because the center started out as a ceramics workshop before moving to these premises and adding many other workshops to its activities. It also has a cafe whose profits are used to provide meals to people in need. B: Further along ... Ave, you will come across N. Hermitage Ave with its beautiful houses with small front gardens and tall trees, then you will see Ashland Ave. There will again be shops and restaurants there and this will be the case until ... St which you will then take to the left to find the ... Museum of Chicago. It is small, open in the afternoon 5 days a week but has a gallery where you can immerse yourself for a moment in the art and culture of the island. C: When this is done, take ... St this time on the right, cross ... Ave and continue along a wall until you reach the entrance to the cemetery which will be on your left. (The rest is on the pdf...)
