Walk in Chicago # 5, Bucktown, Humboldt Park and Paseo Boricua goes from quiet residential streets to wild open spaces and sunny contemporary art to finally end along ethnic restaurants and shops.

​It's easily accessible by the blue line, fifteen minutes from Downtown but nearly a world apart.
It's often off the beaten path with an interesting museum on your way, and it explores a day-to-day part of the city to give you a unique perspective on it.

A: Your walk begins at the ... station exit on the Blue line.

Once on the street, you'll have several options for food, and if you want to try traditional Chicago hot dogs, head to ... Ranch, ... Armitage Ave. It is not exactly on the walk, but you will find your way back easily and it is worth the detour.

A little further at ... Ave, the ... Cabaret bar is also worth a visit for its atmosphere and its jazz concerts. It could be the occasion for an evening after your walk.

Otherwise, take W. ... St immediately to your left out of the subway and you will soon pass a fence painted with colorful animals. Take a look behind, there are chickens!

Take N. ... Ave on the left and follow it until you join the 606, an old railway line transformed into a bike path. Its access ramp will be on the left and before, you will have passed through quiet residential areas typical of the neighborhood.

B: You will probably encounter a lot of people on the 606, joggers, walkers, cyclists. It is planted with trees or lined with flowers and gives you an overhanging view of the houses along the path, and their adjoining gardens.

Follow it for about half a mile and when you get to ... Blvd, take the exit ramp on your right. You will then find yourself on this boulevard and there will be murals at this point, under the bridge.

... Blvd is one of many boulevards that crisscross the city. They were created in the 19th century to provide green spaces for the inhabitants and are lined with mansions.

Follow it south for about 500 yards to reach another gem of these 19th century landscaping, ... Park.


C: Take the path that will be practically in front of you on the other side of ... Ave if you stayed on the right of N. ... Blvd.
